Dematerialisation is a process of holding shares in electronic form instead of the physical i.e. the paper or the material form. That is why it is called dematerialize or demat i.e. remove the form or format of material that is paper and hold it in electronic or digital form.

Transaction of shares can be carried out quick and in an easy way.
2. Trading.
Saleable set of shares is not required for trading.
3. Delivery.
The incidence of non-delivery or bad delivery that occurs for the shares when held in physical format is totally avoided.
4. Brokerage and stamp duty.
In Demat services of the shares there is no stamp duty involved and brokerage involved is also lowest.
5. Nomination.
The facility of nominating is also available.
